Our History
Alison Malmon founded the nonprofit organization Active Minds after her brother tragically took his life in April 2000 after suffering with untreated mental illness. She wants people all around the world to know that seeking help for mental health is a sign of strength, and can be a life-saving decision. Active Minds is now present in 1000 campuses across the US, Australia, and Canada. UCSB is proud to be a part of the movement.
Our Mission at UCSB
The UCSB chapter is dedicated to bringing students, faculty, and the greater community together to break the stigma surrounding mental health. We strive to start conversations, have meaningful discussions, educate and offer resources, and create a community of passionate individuals.
